11th KWCS topics and key milestones

The conference will be held in Tenerife, the largest and most populated island of the Canary Islands. The island receives about 5 million tourists per year, being one of the most important destinations in Spain and in the world. Tenerife has also been investing in knowledge economy initiatives for quite some time, so the summit is the perfect occasion to help on strengthening its knowledge island endeavour and strategies.
The summit aims to contribute to the discussion on the importance and trends of knowledge-based development theory and practice. Academics, professional practitioners, civil servants and policymakers of the world are included in the discussions from a wide range of disciplines to share their knowledge and experiences with the summit delegates. In addition to significant academic and professional presentations, the summit will also provide opportunities for practical exercises in workshops and small group sessions in innovative formats.

As part of the KCWS-2018, a ‘PhD Consortium’ is planned to provide postgraduate research students an invaluable opportunity to present, discuss and get feedback on their research projects from the international experts of their fields. Training session for practicing professionals and civil servants are also planned to take place immediately before the summit in the form of continuous professional education (CPE) training. This year’s programme shall focus on “Knowledge Islands”.
